The Dôme Flax satellite speaker benefits from the innovative composite sandwich cone made with natural flax. It has already proved its worth with the high-fidelity Aria 900 loudspeakers and the Car Audio kits in the Performance range. The Flax technology offers a distinct improvement in definition and better linearity in frequency response over other composite cones. The Dôme also includes an aluminum / magnesium inverted dome tweeter, another Focal exclusive.

The flax cone are made in France exclusively by Focal since 2013. With their original design, the cone are entirely oriented towards acoustic performance. They are made of high quality flax fiber enclosed by two thin layers of glass fiber. Flax cone are characterized by their natural sound, with low coloration, their richness of reproduction in the midrange register and their tighter bass. The lightness of the fiber satisfies the criteria of high internal damping, high velocity, and high flexural rigidity. Flax is twice as light as fiberglass, because the fiber is hollow. It also has very low elasticity which makes it ideal to increase the flexural rigidity of a sandwich structure. 

Dôme is at the forefront of innovation. This speaker is multi-directional and can be fitted to a wall, the ceiling or a stand with equal ease. Its round shape is ideal to avoid internal resonances that distort the purity of timbers. The Focal Sub Air features a ported bass-reflex cabinet with an 8" woofer driven by a 110W RMS BASH amplifier. The wireless technology makes integration into interiors easy, allowing for a wireless range of approximately 50 ft within the same room as the transmitter. The flat and compact design allows you to fit into all kinds of spaces, it can even be wall mounted if desired.
